Restoring of Kings

Restoring of Kings

A Poem by J. Hampton
"

In Part a tribute to those who put it all on the line for civil rights...and in part a commentary where "unity" and "faith" divide we lose so much. the origianl piece was epic. In Part a tribute to those who put it all on the line f

"

Restoring of rainbows

Restoring our dreams

Restoring the truth

Restoring of Kings

Martin, Marley,Malcolm,Gandhi

helped broken spirits rise above

a nation with two faces

armed only walking in..." the dove"

Teach our children " ALL" history......send the truth back to school

Don't Even call that ...((( REPARATIONS ))) !

40 acres  and a mule ?

we reneged that whole "Jim-crow" mess

But not that " One-drop Rule"

"How to Kill a Mocking bird", "A Raisin in the Sun"

"Guess Who's Comin' to Dinner"????

Mumami dressed in "The Color Purple"

with that " Green Mile " yet to run

Emancipation Proclamation...Freeee-dom for who?

" Mandela...Selassie...and " Hurricane" knew

Segregation...Integration.......Separate but equal ????

Sooooo ...( gray ) ...becomes a nation

Who will do the sequel ?

Do we stand united....One nation under God ?

just whose backs built the railroad ?.....and tilled plantation sod ?

Racism in the past ?

just somehow went away ?

Rainbow Coalition

Affirmative Action by Attrition

Don't kill the messenger .......or so they always say

As for Martin...or Malcolm ...it didn't work that way

Money buys..." protection ".....or so some would call it

Don't have much ? ....No worry

Ya get 41 shots ...just like Diallo's wallet

stay soakin' up that knowledge... as far as you can see

so you wont be " Bamboozled" ......like they were at Tuskegee

Victory with no Violence...Victims without names

Vindication by silence ?

Babylon set precedent.

Does ALL …freedom taste the same ?

If Faith grows in unity...then why did it sour ?

when we shuffle off to worship.....at our most-divided hour

Would a Christian pray with Muslims?

or a Buddhist heal a Jew ?

Can you talk "hope" with an Atheist?

Would a Rastafari trust in you ?

Know the distance to our purpose

bridge the gap between our goals

NOT ...knowing is the enemy

Knowing… rebuilds souls

Restoring of Rainbows

Restoring of Dreams

Restoring of Truth

Restoring of Kings

AMAZING!!!! I love it! I am all about the politics. You did a wonderful job weaving this patch quilt of history and historic people.

Victory with no Violence...Victims without names
Vindication by silence ?
Babylon set precident.....
Does ...ALL freedom taste the same ?

Amen sister! No it doesn't taste the same, but they can season it to fool us and believe it is.

Teach our children " ALL" history......send the truth back to school
Don't Even call that ...((( REPARATIONS ))) .......40 acres and a mule !!!
we reneged that whole "Jim-crow" mess.....But not that " One-drop Rule"

One-drop will never go away...to beat into the heads of our forefathers who passed it down generations and never cleared the air. Sad, to think that our schools don't teach history the way it should. The Germans just started telling the truth about the holocaust a few years back. Why is everyone so afraid of the truth. If everyone could read you words and dwell upon the moment maybe that would change. You have cooked up a meal of hate and wrapped it words of love to feed the hungry freedom starved soul.

Thank you sharing.

For the reasons above is why I'm proud to be a USA citizen. We live together in the USA. Different beliefs and religion. Our children go to school together. Neighbors can be of any race. It is hard for me to understand why someone would kill a man or a woman over religion. I was a Soldier for 15 years. I seen evil deeds done by men because of hate and religion. You are correct in your poem. We must live together in harmony. The world. USA may have problems. But we are not tossing acid into young girls faces for going to school.

J. You bring it as always. I can't believe I have been missing out on your work for so long. I could pick apart amazing lines from this piece all day! This piece in its entirety is amazing. Much respect to you for speaking on the matter. I especially dig the lines:

Money buys..." protection ".....or so some would call it
Don't have much ? ....No worry
Ya get 41 shots ...just like Diallo's wallet

Maybe not the most powerful or greatest lines in this piece but probably my favorite. Especially since i have a tattoo on my stomach of an american flag with a person imprisoned in its stripes and 42 bullet holes for stars. 41 for Diallo and 1 for every other who has been caught on the wrong side of American "justice".

Thanks for bringing this forward again. AMC aired some movies on Monday in honor of the day. How do you explain the way things were in "A Patch of Blue"? WHen the world they see is so much different. More work to do. More work to do.

Malcolm X said that he was glad that John Kennedy was assassinated so I won't cry any tears for the "chickens coming home to roost" on his own doorstep. He also made statements supporting violence and stirring groups like the Black Panthers into revolutionary frenzy, not a man of peace at all, nor one that I consider a leader of any men, just a confused intellectual with dillusions of grandeur. I admire Dr. King, I love Bob Marley and his music and I appreciate Muhatma's determination for peaceful, passive resitence. I don't see Mr. X even belonging on the same page with these men.

Wow--this is quite a teaching on history. Your knowledge of History is astounding, Jen. I love the word Restoration. It brings such hope to a lost and dieing world. Lost and dieing souls...Thank you for the reminder. We all need to hear it time and again.

This is a great write, and not "too rhymey" at all. Au contraire! It feels like a quality rap piece. Generally speaking, rap is not my thing because of content, but THIS has content galore.

These lines knock me out, and bring the whole poem to its call to action:

Would a Christian pray with Muslims? ....or a Buddhist heal a Jew ?
Can you talk "hope" with an Atheist ?......Would a Rastafari trust in you ?

Know the distance to our purpose.....bridge the gap between our goals
NOT ...knowing is the enemy......Knowing rebuilds souls

Really great write.

I have always been faithful to my own thoughts and ideas,,I think we have come a very long ways since the Kennedy men and the M.L.King came on the seen. All was killed for the same reason but two of them are not remember for there sacrifice it seems. Nor is the many other people who stood up for equal rights. So in saying this what you wrote was good ,,but in your writing remember no man but Jesus can fix a nation by himself . For this rest upon all of us and we have worked together hand in hand to make us a little closer to become one people under God we trust. I liked what you wrote but there is much more to the story than one man. not trying to hurt anyones feeling if we are going to praise one ,then we have to remember no man is a Island unto himself. But Jesus and he is the total universe . God Bless, RodneyRay
