~ Diffusing Family ~

~ Diffusing Family ~

A Poem by J. Hampton
"

Just an observation of irony....despite all family drama...when it gets gritty...we put down the shotguns till later ...nobody messes with family...but family !

"

My ideas
lie
like trivets...

protecting something
I
do
not
understand

From the

heat generated

by the depth

our heels dig in

"lukewarm heroes"
feel like marmalade
and
ancient fruitcake

there is rhetoric
in my matrix

and I'm too tired
to think about it

Lets drink Green tea
and juxtapose
reasons to
quit

like we always did
as kids
it was easier
to
be
the last
morsel
that everyone wants
and
nobody will take

let me rest my thoughts
on
the bench
between us
till things
cool off

or

are seized

by our allegiance

IN

the battle

outside ourselves

Blessssssssssssss

This poem brought about a feeling of "Mutual Boredom" almost like someone who is lazy and suddenly feels the need to just release themselves from the dreary and communicate about happiness.

This..might sound odd but when I read it I nodded and smiled to myself then said, " I need a vacation from the norm."

I absolutely loved this, the general flow of the poem, as well as some of the blunt terminology you used. Great structure!

Hi Jen *hugs*
Your composition is always tight and your words relevant, I enjoy your work so much. I have a large family and your sentiments touched me and rang absolutely true, there is an element of sadness...just as there would be in the subject matter, but if your guidelines are followed a happy ending should ensue.
There are always those who would rather argue than eat...loved this li'l piece of sane philosophy :-)

Reminds me of me and my sister at times, we are so different, often driving me up the wall, but yes, battles can be out aside, because the common ground is there.

"lukewarm heroes"
feel like marmalade
and
ancient fruitcake

Made my mouth water! Lovely, well crafted piece.

Wow. I felt this. I wish I had a suggestion....but I was completely satisfied with the description of dissatisfaction. Brilliant.
Cheers!

wow, wow and more wow. Thank you for your recent review. I don't have to take out trash but I do a lot of laundry and cooking, and dishes.....sigh.
This piece is powerful - intense - and so connected in the disconnected verses...

to think about it------I liked this, and yes the power of speech is a strong weapon, this is your origin of being a poet, the poetry is your surrounding medium, ha ha. just because of power of your speech. self referential. this letting things cool off is so difficult, for one has to get away of oneself to look at it outside of box. great message, once again, loved it.
