~ I Cry ~

~ I Cry ~

A Poem by J. Hampton
"

For those who need more time with..." The Man "

"

I cry.....

I cry for the spiritually emasculated

those driven by "self"

and grassroots "ego-fed"....

bottles of

religious elixirs

knocked over

in haste

The haste...of fear

of...

running out of...

white socks...

Clorox

just "plain -time"

and botox...

generic confessions

to an unknown God

in fear ...

of the flipside

of six feet of sod

I cry....for the victims of spiritual hysterectomy..

wind-in-the-willows faith

caught up

in...

Pious banter...

"he-said"...." she said"

following..."God-of the-month"

then...

oooops they're "dead"

Reducing them to

faithless "super-heads"

seduced by

greed and

hopeless beds

kissing their seeds goodnight

like

it's alright ..

to

leave them

spiritually underfed

a-g-a-i-n....

I cry...for spiritual bargin-shoppers

you know

those ...

generic seeking

non-committal

"scripture-hoppers"

Who...

live  sinful ...and selfish..

deep in "Me"

never change their ways...

or bend a knee

yet somehow

expect...

indemnity

Lord........

I cry ...

everytime

I see

they expect you to fit their lives

not theirs to fit thee

Not many folks carry this kind burden for others. The willingness to share all of the truth of God is uncommon in these times of political correctness and the popular "we're all in the same boat" mentality that encourages everyone to do their own thing because "we'll all meet on that golden shore in the end anyway".
Well we are not "all in the same boat". And, by the way, that big old barge of convenience that the majority of folks have mistakenly or unwarily shuffled aboard is rapidly taking on water.

"...spiritual bargin-shoppers you know those ... generic seeking non-comittal "scripture-Hoppers"

The problem is most people have no idea what they truly can have in God. They are just not aware how real and tangible He is. But He has not changed! Chapter 2 of Acts is still the same and verse 38 is still simple, pure, and powerful.
The challenge in these modern times is sharing the depth and promises of God with those you meet and care about without seeming to them to be a wild-eyed fanatic. It takes a lot of prayer, a lot of patience, and a lot of listening I think.
Thank you for this marvelously bold and important piece!

Oh, it's awesome. I love the way you took the biggest questions and put them into concepts we all know. It's truly an inspired write.
