~ I Cry ~

~ I Cry ~

A Poem by J. Hampton
"

For those who need more time with..." The Man "

"

I cry.....

I cry for the spiritually emasculated

those driven by "self"

and grassroots "ego-fed"....

bottles of

religious elixirs

knocked over

in haste

The haste...of fear

of...

running out of...

white socks...

Clorox

just "plain -time"

and botox...

generic confessions

to an unknown God

in fear ...

of the flipside

of six feet of sod

I cry....for the victims of spiritual hysterectomy..

wind-in-the-willows faith

caught up

in...

Pious banter...

"he-said"...." she said"

following..."God-of the-month"

then...

oooops they're "dead"

Reducing them to

faithless "super-heads"

seduced by

greed and

hopeless beds

kissing their seeds goodnight

like

it's alright ..

to

leave them

spiritually underfed

a-g-a-i-n....

I cry...for spiritual bargin-shoppers

you know

those ...

generic seeking

non-committal

"scripture-hoppers"

Who...

live  sinful ...and selfish..

deep in "Me"

never change their ways...

or bend a knee

yet somehow

expect...

indemnity

Lord........

I cry ...

everytime

I see

they expect you to fit their lives

not theirs to fit thee

Not many folks carry this kind burden for others. The willingness to share all of the truth of God is uncommon in these times of political correctness and the popular "we're all in the same boat" mentality that encourages everyone to do their own thing because "we'll all meet on that golden shore in the end anyway".
Well we are not "all in the same boat". And, by the way, that big old barge of convenience that the majority of folks have mistakenly or unwarily shuffled aboard is rapidly taking on water.

"...spiritual bargin-shoppers you know those ... generic seeking non-comittal "scripture-Hoppers"

The problem is most people have no idea what they truly can have in God. They are just not aware how real and tangible He is. But He has not changed! Chapter 2 of Acts is still the same and verse 38 is still simple, pure, and powerful.
The challenge in these modern times is sharing the depth and promises of God with those you meet and care about without seeming to them to be a wild-eyed fanatic. It takes a lot of prayer, a lot of patience, and a lot of listening I think.
Thank you for this marvelously bold and important piece!

i loved this. i guess i'm biased to liking it because i agree with what it says..but it was well-written. you used good analogies like "spiritual bargain-shoppers" and "spiritual hysterectomy". plus, you had the guts to put this out there. good work!

well you said this. I am glad I came here to read this well expressed piece. It is the bottle of ego desires what we have, so nicely said in the first stanza. I write about it all the time and my newest piece, what I am writing, will go deep into all this. The second stanza, there you are mentioning all the vanity and beig the pretender in white socks. Then you speak about how people see it wrong seeking their healing in a prayer but not looking deep into themselves. All this what we have is lost compassion that's what I believe. They live in a counsciousness where they lose face, this yes yes reality is killing. I enjoyed your elloquent pointing out without preaching. This 'spiritual hysterectomy' was a delicious expression. be well.

This has to be one of the most powerful pieces I've read on this site. The deliverance was well executed. Your rhythm pattern was as binding as music notes on the scale. Spirituality is something that many don't FULLY understand. Religion can be the largest group of politics. Many don't understand religion/spirituality, comes from within. It's always there, always has been. It's nothing necessarily taught, but instinctive. One must choose to find it within, not listen to the folklore we've been provided. Just as the government, religion can hide many of it's truths.

You are a queen of the pen, and spit verses better than most I've seen to date.

*claps*

Wonderful.

One of the other reviewers of your works talks of how you express so well things in his/her mind, and here you've expressed feelings that I have in my mind. Your choice of a short lined format is brilliant. It emphasises every point you make - separately and makes some of the great metaphors stand out like jewels -

'I cry...for spiritual bargin-shoppers
'you know
those ...
generic seeking
non-comittal
"scripture-Hoppers" Splendid!'

and 'I cry....for the victims of spiritual hysterectomy..
wind-in-the-willows faith
caught up
in...
Pious banter...'

Yesssss!

It says so much that I wish to say but couldn't say as well as this. Thank You,
John

WOW!!! A little judgmental, but excellent write just the same. I too feel for those who put material wealth and self possesion first...and there are many, but you may as well talk to the wall! I guess we keep trying to get the message of love and hope through. That is one way in which we can use our writing talents...
Nice one Jen xx

Wow,
Impressive. You touched on so many things that are so true, and did it in a beat kind of way. Like..I've always noticed that stern and rigid kind of people, tend to worship the same kind of God; unyeilding, very strict....where as people who are very forgiving, compassionate, selfless people end up worshiping a God with those same qualities. You have a style of writing that is very unique to you. It's a little street, a little suburban, a great blend. Rain..

An excellent write filled with TRUTH straight from the throne room. I love every bit of it. I cry.....

those driven by "self"

and grassroots "ego-fed"....

bottles of

in haste

God's heart breaks for humanity. The key is allowing our heart to break with His and sharing His burden for this world. I know I am not there yet, but I am closer. You always challenge me, Jen! (((Hugs))) to you Sis! Carole
