Inspired by a prompt...that took me back to cali & an old brownstone hotel I lived in there was this cat that played alto sax ...Sun. nights on the roof or whenever he couldn't sleep...and this other cat that did softshoe in a pile of sand on the sid
Such a strong way to represent such a strong piece. You definitely carried the jazz vibe on this. Made me feel like I was in a painting that has the "Jazz" lounge...
I love this. It is jass, free flowing , coming from the heart. I've missed out by having so many friends to read. I'm serious. This has a feel like few others. This should be out there for all to feel. It reminds me of Johhny Hartman/John Coltrane. Beautiful and smooth. Rain..
This is light and breezy Jen, I loved it...he couldn't sleep, so nobody else slept either! I really like the neighborhood feel of this, it's magical and is screaming out for music...
Love xxx
Helen :-)))))
I hear the music in this poem, you fairly breathe it into this poem and it's wonderful. Of course I love jazz myself, but there is a feel here, almost of Langston Hughes that really just makes this sing off the page.
Ha. Funky rhythms. You've got that jazz beat down pat... very, I dunno, beat poetry I guess. And myself, I sing jazz-reggae kinda stuff with a jazz pianist on occasion so this connects. And I love jazz bars... for the soul displayed by people shaking their booties... it's very sexay yet pure in a way... y'know? Or maybe I'm just a dancy floozy when I hear some great tunes...
=)
I think I love that cat too. I certainly love jazz and the blues. This was a very mood making piece and I'm digging the mood. I'm hearing Louis Armstrong trumpet out some notes between bits of scat vocals and Billie Holiday moaning soft and low Summertime. Love it!
