J E N N I F E R

J E N N I F E R

A Poem by J. Hampton
"

my 1st...actually..my ONLY Acrostic ..for a contest ~ an acrostic of our name ...hmmm

"

J uxtaposed, thoughts and emotions caught up in snap crosswinds, tickle my pen

E longated shadows loom over beautiful broken down walls, of the oddest stone

N uances of time and place cling to damp hopes on sticky pages, which smell like someone I loved once

N ew tears wet crumpled poems, and children’s cheeks

I never cared for short days, black licorice, or the way my jeans fit

Forever has grown thick wildflowers without names,

E ssences of answered prayers, and favorite songs

R etrospect has become my thesis and my bliss

What a beautiful deeply meaningful piece............every line containing apart of you.

I never cared for short days, black licorice, or the way my jeans fit
Forever has grown thick wildflowers without names,
Essences of answered prayers, and favorite songs
Retrospect has become my thesis and my bliss

Beautiful thoughts.......amongst sadness comes retrospect of life and love........and writing.

Excellent wording and imagery in this one. Very deep. Beautiful. Abstract and meaningful. I love it. I tend to be very literal about my work so I enjoy diverse poetry. Wonderful acrostic Jennifer. I love how you express youself with words. Great descriptions and details. Wonderfully written! ^_^

this was my favorite line. probably because it was the least abstract and it made you seem so down to earth

beautifully written. Such strong images stated so simply....I never liked....it is how we think of ourselves. I especially like that last line, Retrospect has become my thesis and my bliss

Awesome poetry.

So short, yet so touching. It is in poems like these that words really take flight.

I never even heard the word acrostic until I came here, then I just tried it one night by myself. I'm begining to hate the word "flow." But, that's exactly what you have to do. One ill chosen word throws the whole poem off. I loved this poem, and especially loved this line..
" Elongated shadows loom over beautiful broken down walls, of the oddest stone "
There is something strangely beautiful about a crumbled wall, especially one of odd shaped stone.
Iloved this.." I never cared for short days, black licorice, or the way my jeans fit "
I don't think I've ever met a woman who liked the way her jeans fit. This was a great piece. Rain..

two things

1.) the lines are away too long. please please break them up!

2.) Forever has grown thick wildflowers without names / should that read "forever has brown thick WITH wildflowers without names ???

i love the wording and images in this piece. very unique and enchanting associations.

this acrostic is well written, it didn't occur to me that's what it was, till I stepped back and looked at the piece as a whole...the words flow nicely into each other. I'm glad this was sent to me...

I completely missed that this was an acrostic until I read through the reviews. I was so caught up in the words. Beautiful words, you wrote them to describe yourself, but I saw bits and pieces of me in there, too. I'm so glad this found it's way to my read requests. There are some stunning images in this short number of lines.
