Jingle Bloody Bells
Tiger! Tiger! Burning bright… Ha! I’m the panther in the night With tigers Blake was surely taken But by Bastet, he was mistaken Panthers are by far superior Than all the old tiger hysteria I stalk the dark on silent paws Contract and flex my razor claws Moon silvered fur’s the only clue That death is lurking close to you Mice and night birds quake in fear When from the shadows I appear I slit my eyes of amber gold Upon your tender flesh they hold Flick back my ears and snarl my lips Flash needle teeth and jiggle hips Pause, step, pause and spring Then thwarted by the familiar din Faced with dreadful jaws of hell But startled by this bloody bell Again to my complete dismay I watch my dinner dart away Snowball! Snowball! Come inside I hesitate and try to hide I run when she tap-taps the tin “Naughty kitty! Where have you been?” I rub around her legs and purr She reaches down to stroke my fur I'd be the greatest Panther – well… If it wasn’t for this stupid bell © 2007 J.e. Doherty © 2008 J.e. Doherty |
