Love's WastelandA Poem by J CarlyFantasy is but the seed Of a fruitless searching Within my dispassionate soul Will time bring life once more To this wasteland And make fertile my barren heart Allowing the seed to reach out And take root? Will smiles and laughter Bring the fruit to bear? Will love once again Inhabit my empty shell, Radiating its heat and Spreading its glow To corners bereft of light? Or will the years pass by Cold and unmoving, Hardening a surface Unyielding to change? Love's potential left untapped, The seed, fossilized and frozen in time, A lifetime wasted in scornful desolation... The dream, thus naught but a dying whisper On cracked and bleeding lips? © 2010 J CarlyAuthor's Note
