FortuneA Poem by J. Alicia Fortunately I’ve
forgotten your name Your
tasted stain so Cherry
merry bleeding ripe Got
rinsed from my
mouth I’ve
forgotten it. Maybe
it was the Hallowing
out cuts
and checks on a balance made neatly So
your cottony refute would Fill
the ruined space oh so conveniently.
not
so, you’ll
say in muffled
coughs and weighted sighs certainly
it’s just an unfortunate irony a burn
mark of fate that sets your eyes full of
beautiful blue pity youre
an eyefull Strangling The
bulb under my ribs Until
stanch simmering dulls And dims and Stops What you strain to hear The
brittle snaps Shackled
gasps Locked Swallowing
shame shot Descent
Into the muck Alluring
scam, Disaster
fucked. The
wrecked screams are only whispered While
Mumbled
apologies from times drunk and sad Fall Frozen
Fade Waxed
and waned the Outline
passes A marked
hum fills the air Similar
to the
last hope wing beats Of a
fly in a jar at the end Near
the end There,
you see? No
why not’s can’t wants can we be’s It
can’t be. I’ve
forgotten your name. Fight,
go ahead. Stake
a claim on what’s left I’ll
watch as you reach Fingers
barely licked To trace
and mold My
still lips as if To
press them to form
the syllables that
bring forth nothing from a cavern of bones Left
echoless to your dismay To
my dismay I’ve
forgotten our names Everything will happen as it does With
every puff of that Breath
still sticky with hints Of lies
you’ve eaten Not
sweet enough to hide The
question said gently As
your mouth wavers on mine: How
much of an irony is forced?
