Emerald Isles

Emerald Isles

A Poem by J.A.Bentley
"

I walked through the evening beach and tides, and I walked away with this.

"
The sun and moon raged,
fighting, pulling;
you could feel the gravity
of their daily strain,
so on the waves were tossed
lapping so near
creating eddies by my feet
as I quietly watched.
And So the battles and tides turn
upon a simple
but yet almost arcane thought:
Who desired most and yearned?
While the beauty, overwhelming,
of this fight
played out daily for all
you could almost feel their need;
the need of more, of
something less known,
perhaps...beauty, no...
perhaps love?
Then I stopped,
got up from there
and walked away
more found than lost
I saw, and don't you see?
This ocean, and these tides
It's all beautiful, hauntingly so,
but, I've more beauty in me.
In my heart, resides this pearl,
It's growing anew
into this large, beautiful,
emerald world.
