Settling into the Aftermath

Settling into the Aftermath

A Poem by J.A.Bentley
"

As all the dust settles...

"
It was in the aftermath
of all the lights and shimmer
that my eyes
grew dimmer.
You were but now a blur
no more to be seen or heard
a brushstroke
upon the earth.
Can I say that we'll see again?
Is it within my power to do so
as if yelling out loud
could calm the wind?
I'm here
in the aftermath.
Of all
that has passed.
As my eyes
regain their sight.
As day is
birthed from night.
