Amazement in Grace

Amazement in Grace

A Poem by J.A.Bentley
"

I think the title is self-explanatory

"

The Lord treads the ground

in the garden of my heart!

Shall I hide in shame?

I shall dance and praise!

A joyous cry shall spring from my Spirit!

This is my Father!

See His hand, see His mighty arm!

With His hand He has set my feet straight!

My feet were faulty, stubbornly set for folly!

My eyes were crossed and covered in pride!

My heart was selling deceit at the cost of a life!

My Father!

His mercy and love reside in His hand

Accept correction and you will live!

What peace can you have

you who set your face against Him?

Does He not see your heart?

He saw mine to which I was blind!

Lord, your mercy has brought me here!

Allow your servant the strength

and wisdom Your will requires!

Raise up your shield around me!

The gadflies shall gather

but your Spirit drives them away in fear!

I cannot be but yours!

For You have set this day in place

and have called forth Your will

to cover the earth!

To my Holy Father,

Father of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob!

My Righteousness, You have set me free

For Your Name is Lord Jesus!

Amen.
