Rivulets and Violets

Rivulets and Violets

A Poem by J.A.Bentley
"

Upon being saved I received a dream about my future wife. This is not the dream, just an inspired thanks.

"

Labyrinthine hair and tassles of shade

snake through my fingers

like rivulets and violets

I precariously pass the lips

to kiss your sleeping eyelids

as I pray and thank Jesus

for how He did this.

Here lies a wonderous beauty

with outlines I can only illustrate in sleep

every moment is surreal

every kiss succinct

I shiver to think of your eyes

brown grottos in which lesser men have drowned

and I barely survive.

I can count the times I've given you my breath

and I've received yours

Where I have counted to ten

only to give back to you again

Shall I paint the picture

as our lips brush the surface

of something greater but lesser understood

where love is our purpose

and our death as our tool.

I shall die in your arms tonight

and our hearts shall reside as one

as this song from our hearts

unite, twisting into our love.

We shall create the symphony

to which the stars shall dance.

I willl thank Jesus again

for He created...us.
