A poem for those trying to be more.

A poem for those trying to be more.

A Poem by J.A.Bentley
"

A word for those who hurt.

"
You told me
one day beside the tracks
that waylaid waste to your dreams
that you only saw yourself
as an anomaly
that no one could see.

No one could uniquely see
the hidden pain that you didn't show
on purpose I thought, or so I thought...
but I was wrong.
but not wrong soon enough,
Like the late leaves
Midwinter's freeze
and all fell naught

But now I would say
"don't like your rivers run dry
cheer up
there is indeed a brighter side"
Those cracks will heal,
you will forgive
and you'll mend"
You'll tap into that heart of yours
to give your best again"
Don't let the dark fall on a frown
nor let tears fall unaccounted,
make them up with memories
and the song a birds sings"
Let your past remain,
and let the future hang
and simply be,
my favorite,
favorite
thing:
You

Author's Note

J.A.Bentley
I think being you is a very hard thing indeed, and so far all the pain you've gone through to gain identity, to gain freedom, to gain love will be worth it in the end. Did you find your purpose, your meaning amongst all the sorrow, the laughter, the ups and downs life daily tosses our way? Be authentically you, it's rare to not pretend.
