Valentine’s Day Gone Wrong

Bloody roses and red lips.

Your hands shouldn’t have been on my hips.

I shouldn’t have tasted your blood.

Now I have left you to rot.

Happy Valentine’s Day, sweetheart.

Your blood was the sweetest part.

The chocolates you gave me were dipped in poison.

But from the dead I have risen.

When I entered your room in your eyes I saw dread.

As I plunged the dagger into your heart I said,

“It is your turn to be dead.”

Happy Valentine’s Day, sweetheart.

Your blood was the sweetest part.

There is no evidence that I was there.

No fingerprints, no weapon, no hair.

But there is blood everywhere.

From your clothes to the sheets on your bed.

And now your bedroom walls are all painted red.

Happy Valentine’s Day, sweetheart.

Your blood was the sweetest part.

Very dark. Maniacal almost. I liked this a lot. There's excellent language in this poem. I hope my Valentine's Day doesn't go that badly...
