Blessed Emblems

Blessed Emblems

God Bless the Stars and Stripes;

Forever to bleed Red White and Blue.

Though the progressive type gripes,

The best emblem this patriot knew.

May freedom now and forever stand,

The beautiful United States Flag.

O’ my beautiful country and sacred land.

Of which I will constantly brag.

God Bless also the Stars and Bars;

Not as an emblem of division,

But as a reminder of our scars,

And the farmers giving us provision.

Not meant as a racist statement,

But supporting salt of our earth.

Fighting the narrow-minded abatement,

and my rebel heart for what it’s worth.

God Bless the Coiled-Up Snake;

Standing as a warning for our foes.

Don’t Tread on Me the plea we make,

Keep clear for all who oppose.

My pursuit of happiness guaranteed;

As is my life and liberty.

I’d fight for yours too if you’d need,

So that you may also be free.

God bless the flags that I hold dear.

And also bless my patriotic heart.

Preserve this country and hold it near,

Like you did from our tumultuous start.

Nearly two hundred fifty years old,

This country of mine that I love.

Protect our protectors the brave and the bold,

Send you light and might from above.

Funny how times change, I remember how it was uplifting even for non-citizens how these emblems brought out a certain pride and Joie de Vivre. The decline must have began toward the mid 90s or somewhere thereabouts, the USness of the U.S. being swapped for other more selfish emblems. Quite sad, in a way. 🙏🏻🕊
