International Delight

International Delight

A Poem by J Todd Underhill

"

I’m one pot deep into a three-pot day;

The joyous sound that’s like a dog drowning.

Black with Stevia is my personal way,

Cup after cup this poet is downing.

Yet, I live without the shakes and jitters;

Just one more rich cup is all that I need.

I’m not normally one of those quitters,

By embracing coffee, I quit all speed.

Early in the morning or late at night,

Kona, Kenyan or Colombian blend.

Coffee the international delight,

Without its effects I can’t comprehend.

A cup or three, whatever it may take,

Just remain silent until I’m awake.
