Words from a Patriotic Poet

I love the sight of our national banner;

My spirit: Red, White and Blue through and through,

Far better than the sickle and hammer.

Preserve our freedom is what I clamor,

Ever protected by the proud and few;

I love the sight of our national banner.

Please forgive my patriotic manner,

The most beautiful flag I ever knew.

Far better than the sickle and hammer.

 Merely a poet, don’t judge my grammar.

With such a grand image for me to view,

I love the sight of our national banner.

The flames of hatred, I’m not a fanner,

No wonder freedom in Russia once grew.

Far better than the sickle and hammer.

So now I welcome our new commander.

Whose love of our country they deem taboo.

I love the sight of our national banner;

Far better than the sickle and hammer.

Hello fellow Coloradoan! This is by far one of the most beautiful pieces of writing I’ve read recently. I, too, am a proud patriot and looking forward to a new, but known, government administration. Thank you for sharing your writing.
