Sleep DeprivationA Poem by J Todd Underhill01/04/2025
Another night slumbering in shifts, Another night the nightmares stampede. Morpheus visits in two-hour clips, Just a couple of Ambien is what I need.
Up and down while I’m tossing and turning, Another night slumbering in shifts. Logging screen time ‘til my eyes are burning, To old time radio shows my mind drifts.
Night after night this problem persists, I can’t seem to get my thoughts to stop. Another night slumbering in shifts Punching my pillow as I flip and flop.
Thinking my problems are worse than most. Near to delirium my mind now slips. I raise my glass with a Nyquil toast, Another night slumbering in shifts
