Divorcing DenverA Poem by J Todd Underhill01/03/2025My heart doth lay out on the great plains, It’s where I feel most at peace in life. The few shreds of my sanity remains, Want to reside there just me and my wife.
How do I make this dream reality, I need to shed this city and its grime. The country boy hidden inside of me, Keeps on telling me the time is prime.
Wanting to disappear into the grasslands, Underneath the moon out on the prairie. Desperation that my wife understands; To pull the trigger we both are wary.
My bride and I happy to be just hicks, Living twenty phone poles out past the sticks.
