Sonnet of a Redneck PoetA Poem by J Todd UnderhillNaPoMo entry 08 04/08/2024Hell yeah, I’m a redneck; I do not deny. But I’m the best man that I can be. Married a farm girl; what a lucky guy. Poor girl was seemingly made just for me. The American west driven by car; No other place than I’d rather be. The American west seen bar to bar; A demon of which I’ll never be free. Dirt tracks and Truckstop’s where I feel most free. From Roswell to Glasgow and back again. From Denver out to Jackson Missouri. If it’s not found there, I don’t want it then. A redneck poet sharing all I say; Open Mic nights in small town U.S.A. 04/08/2024 © 2024 J Todd Underhill |
