Outlaw Poet

The moon crashes silently into the western horizon.

Swallowing marshmallow puffs whole.

Morning sights to memorizing.

Butterflies dancing in my soul.

Sunlight taking hold of the day,

The owl and the coyote begin to nap.

With my Alphabits I like to play,

Did this poet finally mentally snap?

City lights fade, Blue, Green and Red.

Traffic begins to stir early in the dawn.

Remembering words in dreams that were said,

Into the wakened world I am drawn.

Penning my thoughts before I begin,

My simple life and redneck livin’

Making the most of my opportunities,

And all of the gifts I am given.

Outlaw poet, Academia’s rebel indeed,

Making my way the best that I can.

Happy with the person I now see,

J. Todd Underhill there is no myth to the man.

I so enjoyed reading your lyrical poem on this fine day. There is almost a sweet limerick feel to this piece that echoes a bit of whimsical thought. And it captures a man in his contentment in a good life lived. Very nice work indeed.
