The Origin of a PseudonymA Poem by J Todd Underhill03/25/2022 National Read Tolkien DayThe legend grew from when I was a kid, Influencing me even unto this day. The storyteller and the magic he hid, Weaving his spells in his own special way. From this wizard I did borrow, Or if you’d like just out right steal. Tales of joy and of sorrow, Made you feel as if it were all real. Mesmerized by goblins and dragons, And the war which was soon to come. The family line of the little Baggins, And the power held by the all-seeing one. Reading by flash light until I would doze, Morpheus would soon take me, Removing me worldly troubles and woes And the sun of
a new day to wake me. Excited awaiting the following night, To read from the masters work once again, Setting my imagination alight, And giving this future poet a grin. Master storyteller who influence my soul, I thank you for all that you gave. Though life has taken its ultimate toll, I whisper these words unto your grave. 03/25/2022 © 2022 J Todd Underhill |
