Seeing the Now

Seeing the Now

A Poem by J Todd Underhill

If you are depressed you are living in the past.

Try not to let your heart dwell on things you can’t change.

Life flows by without remorse ever so fast,

Events that have happened you cannot rearrange.

If you are anxious you are living in the future.

Worry not for challenges that have not materialized

Life’s unknown wounds you cannot suture,

Panicking about what lies ahead leaves your now compromised

If you are at peace you are living in the present.

Take in the experiences planned for you.

Depression and Anxiety are products of focus misspent

Don’t let either thief fill you through.

Never should you worry or live in fear,

Set your eyes on the moment and you will see clear.

Living in the now is hard sometimes but the now is all we have :) A nice reminder my friend, to live and be, just simply live :)
