Unexpurgate

Unexpurgate

A Poem by J Todd Underhill

Spooky season has arrived,

And the colors on the trees are changing.

Another summer we have survived,

And the leaves soon to be rearranging.

The cold October rain always falls,

Underneath the sky of many grays.

Longer nights and the coyote calls,

Sunshine limited to shorter displays.

Pumpkins and Apples are harvested,

Cider and Pies prepared and consumed.

Old ghost stories unexpurgated,

Skeletons from the closet have been exhumed.

Autumn is the death before rebirth,

A cycle displayed right here on earth.

I don't know that autumn is the death before rebirth, and always considered it a bit of life before a season of decline and demise .

Always considered autumn to be a last hoorah of life, with good days and less than good but something preceding a deadly time.
