Final Poem of 2020

Final Poem of 2020

A Poem by J Todd Underhill
"

Not long now

"

Out with the old and in with new,

Twenty Twenty has been the ultimate screw.

The world I know has lost its mind,

Internal peace has been so hard to find.

I take solace in the fact it will change,

Hopefully this New Year will rearrange.

Ready for the old normal to return once more,

The New Normal is something that I abhor.

Living in fear is not the American way,

And I pray the future holds a brighter day.

The world to open its arms once again,

Embracing every person as its friend.

Trading loneliness for closeness,

Trading isolation for togetherness.

Walking hand in hand into twenty twenty-one,

Walking side by side out in the sun.

Here's hoping the
sun shines a lot
brighter this new
year and our lives
return to normal
you say it well in
this poem
