Sympathy for Fellow HumansA Poem by J Todd Underhill01/18/2019This piece goes out to the fine people; The citizens of North Korea. This is merely an observation from a poet, One who looks at life differently, Who walks through life observing.
I want you to know in general the American populace Do not want war with you or your country. We may not know what it is like there, But we want no harm to people outside of our land. We want all people to thrive and do well.
Sure we may not know what it’s like for you, Having the media lie to us daily, Spewing the propaganda of our government. Keeping is misinformed about this life, Hiding the truth.
Sure we may not know what it’s like for you, Working your a*s off day to day. Stretching a short string to make ends meet. Barely surviving on what we can make. Living paycheck to paycheck.
Sure we may not know what it’s like for you, Having the government watch you constantly, Living in fear of retribution of our thoughts, Kept under the thumb by oppression, Made mindless by poor education.
Sure we may not know what it’s like for you, Having your country run by a megalomaniac; One that has a bad hair-do. One with designs of manipulation, Through ultimate power, who feels bullet proof.
And though we may not know these trials; We can certainly sympathize with you. We can know that all humans try, To do their best daily, To make it through and endure until the end.
