The First Poem of 2018A Poem by J Todd Underhill01/01/2018The fireworks burst with a bang and pop, The church bells wildly ringing. Time has come once more to write nonstop Time has come for this poet to come out swinging.
This I hope to make all of my goals. Or wear my fingers to the bone while trying. As the New Year now steadily rolls, Time for this poet to start flying.
I don’t mean to sound like a jerk, But I need to raise my game once more, Sit back and just watch me work, To become better than I was before.
The gloves have come off and now the fight, As I try and soar after the free fall, The boxing match of which I now write, Has become a bare knuckle brawl!
