A Long Time in ComingA Poem by J Todd Underhill10/17/2017Father in heaven, Please forgive the young of this land. For they lack the wisdom and incite; To see what you have planned.
They have not seen a president Like Reagan or Kennedy Who loved their country so They gave much preserving liberty
The think the government is like Santa Claus Expecting something with nothing returned Well my friends there is no real free lunch And the best rewards are worked for and earned
Father in Heaven; Grace for the young I now plead. For they know now what it is like; To work from all you desire and need.
I hope this generation learns quick; That you need to guard against evil; That would enslave you and then trade you, When you are indebted to such people.
The bitter pill this country now is taking; Has been such a long time in coming. Like a sideways suppository administered; Without gloves and any numbing.
