CaughtA Poem by JohnnyB
Caught in a prison, caught in a jail,
Caught in a lifetime of merciless hell, Caught by mistakes made while blind, Visions of failure invaded my mind; Caught in a web, caught in a lie, Caught by deception with my head in the sky, Caught by the vices that claim the masses, Just one of the many from all different classes; Caught by lust, caught by greed, Caught by desire, caught by need, Caught by jealousy with a blistering rage, Forever locked in a smothering cage; Caught in sorrow, caught in fears, Caught in distrust, caught crying endless tears, Caught by depression that ruled my brain, I thought I'd be drowned by the flood of rain; Caught, but alive, I swam frantically to shore, I searched and searched for an open door, There were so many that I started to scream, I thought I'd never escape from this awful dream; But, alas, I awoke from my altered state, And remembered I'm the one who chooses my fate, Though dazed, still alive, the clouds finally lifted, I realized in humility-I'm human, I'm gifted. __________________________________J R Brock © 1995 john-michael productions, ltd. © 2010 JohnnyB |
