No Com(promise)sA Poem by IwasthemoonA poem written in passionate anger.
What is new today? Honesty and heart-felt words are new today. Who, but you, would lie until you can't feel your bones, Or your lungs, Or your eyeballs in your head, Or the worst-heart. Your worst-heart rots and sinks through the pillars of candied flesh Inside of you. What is really left inside of you? Just like a mouth full of sugar, your lies collect in your brightest tooth, gleaming, Only for the world to investigate--to think--and find the rotting from the inside out. You're hatred is marked by the simplest of forms. Loyalty--blood & loyalty will save you from this fire! But I'm surrounded by wisemen and wisewomen and I tell you no. I shan't be blinded by the light of the day or by the gleam of your tooth, or the bend of your tongue, or the shine in your eye, or the tears you claim to shed. I refuse to live and watch you lie. I also refuse to die. You send us the photos--the memories of months past--to save yourself. You expect us to just see our father, happy and alive--sick but surviving, And shed you of all blame? You're wrong. And now you'll know. A three page letter, copies of records that are irrelevant and photos of Daddy fishing won't do it. Get the f**k out of our lives and leave us alone. © 2013 IwasthemoonAuthor's Note
