A Poem by IWASNEVERTHERE

I crave affection like my mother
So I call myself a bird
Flying the sky with no destination
I do not know where I'll land
I do not know if I'll land
I do know I want to land in the arms of another
Holding me dear till I lose my feathers
But for now I reside in temporary hearts
Building homes I know my heart will not inhabit
Moving from one to the other
You ask me why I will not commit
My idea of black and white borders on grey
You assume I do not know what love is
My infatuation with affection merely mirrors my narcissistic nature
Or so you say
I do not feel the need to correct you
The truth might be too bitter to swallow
I believe our hearts are merely vessels for our untold dreams
And I've always been a dreamer
Just know if you're looking for me
You can find me where the birds are
