Knock knock
Have I finally gotten you to open up? Do we remain countries separated by drawn up borders? Knock knock Are you ready to let me in? Knock knock Now that I've got your attention I'm inclined to mention that wilted leaves leave scars on the most beautiful of trees Planted seeds seek peace in the warmth beneath the soil Memories pretend to be idle vices till we can no longer afford to let them go Knock knock just let me be or let me breath you in with lungs full of fading breath Knock knock at heaven's gate while we're stuck on earth Do we seek escape or do we seek the truth yet I seek your face behind guarded doors You can hear my heart stringed along these lines played by violins A haunted lullaby, hard to say goodbye, hard to say the truth when we find lies more comforting Comfort me with your words Water me with eyes of lies as long as I see my reflection Knock knock They tried to turn our voices into caskets Belittle our voices till we no longer have the strength to stand up For surely it was a mismatch or a mishap for we weren't suppose to speak these flowers into existence Fearful they watched them grow with every rest in peace that will never get to see their creation We'll plant their seeds and our weightless bodies will help them grow even if it's the food they need So please take care of me Knock knock Feed me food for thought while I starve over words too painful to swallow Silent minds wonder helplessly blind till they grow their wings and the time comes to cut them off We begin our flight buried 6 feet deep buried deep within buried in your minds beating in your hearts The petals soak our minds clear for all to see Knock knock till I break these walls and I lose my breath knock knocking on this door losing all my strength while knocking full of hope knuckles flowing blood © 2019 IWASNEVERTHERE |
