00:58A Poem by IWASNEVERTHERE
Trust me I wanted to leave
But the leaves don't fall too far from the tree So what does that make me? Imprisoned in a cage or a minute or two from a trains delay? I made my bed and I lay Forgive the thousand broken hearts as it may seem the seams weren't right on our sleeves I wasn't ready to go but the door mirrored an image of my soul Proceeded with caution Tapes across your face Tick tock knock knock Invite me into your space as the world orbits around your waist It all shouldn't come easy to say Cupid flashes a grin and I walk straight in Darkness and lust Babies and wings It must be an excuse but I started to believe in forever So don't be scared Hold my hand We'll see how long it takes our weighted hearts to drag us back to the ground It's just Funny how I say I'll leave The skeletons in our closets no longer seem afraid We walk around with broken bones and broken hearts till we find our escape Is it fair to say I promise you the world when in truth I see galaxies in your eyes? The constellation on your arm dot dots zig zags over your skin Are my words cutting too deep? Please I mean no harm but my pen bleeds with the red you're so accustomed to seeing The sharp knives replaced by words piercing into your heart till they starts to form beats Boom boom boom Is this the lullaby you often desired? My bird your wings do not form shields Yes you soar but the landing has always been tragic You offer a smile and a casket Gladly I take my place for I fear even in death you're someone I can't replace Broken pieces are what use in a puzzle? I stand and wave as my heart departs to meet your embrace Kodak moments mistake the days we waste We run with scissors in traffic praying we find our way Isn't this fun my darling? Aren't the stars outstanding? Twinkle twinkle little star My bird I wonder how far you are Do you look down from the sky and see me waving? Do you mistake my hands for ants searching for a home that no longer exists? © 2019 IWASNEVERTHERE |
