Wow that is so true. It certainly is a downer when you meet a very beautiful but straight woman. I've been there myself. I don't know if you intended for it but the lines of your poem are on opposite sides of the page. Just wasn't sure if that was on purpose or not.

I really like the formatting of this poem. It creates a feeling of suspense. And then a blow to the head and to the heart. You say it concisely, and yet the reader can still follow and make his or her own conclusions and how he or she feels. I also had a crush on a man...but he was the one who was gay. I did not know it at the time though.
