Death to RealityA Poem by V. W. WilhelminaWritten at a time when depression caused me to sleep too much. Written: 06.12.2014My world of dreams And my world of reality Overlap in splendour Dreams are dense Short snippets emotion and disjunction Intertwined with black patches in time Foggy like a glass of vodka Cloudy like the frozen rocks Eyes blink, taking minutes at a time Slow and thick and heavy Drifting in and out of consciousness The world whirling around you And you whirling with the world Reality is delicate Smooth on the surface but jagged to touch One wrong step and the ice cracks below you Helpless like your cries out to the tundra Mortal like your body plunged in ice Veins freeze over, each at a time Cold and sharp and bitter Red blood turns blue And blue hearts stop beating Guess where I'd rather be © 2015 V.
