Bless these liesA Poem by Ivy
It was the easiest thread to unravel,
stripping the whole facade down bare in the sleepwalking sun and I shouted the truths like an ant to the ocean; perhaps the crabs heard me. We had a weird relationship, you and I. Perhaps it would have been normal if you existed like the doubts in my mind held together with 8 minute previews of tomorrow and flashbacks from the tribulations kept house for trials and the lies danced like dewdrops on my quick lips. Burn like fire, from what I’ve learned I burn white until I shrivel right up, skeletal in the sun, blessed in damnation, just like it would be if I had a threadcount of an ancient; gullible like an overly optimistic, ‘loving until the camels ride back with stories to tell’ carpenter. I would build the seas for you and we would dance from the shores you sang, but then again, people are much better company. © 2011 IvyAuthor's Note
