Black Sun Rays

Black Sun Rays

A Poem by Ivey

Look up at the sky and tell me what you see

On this pitch black night, in this painful ocean

The black sun rays falling down from above

Drenching beams of sorrow onto my soul

Causing it to wither up and shrink inside my very body

My false skin peals away

Leaving me with only the ugly reality of what is to come

Past mistakes come flooding back to me.

Reminding me of everything wrong in life

These black sun rays

Are they really bad

They show me the truth

And with the truth comes enlightenment

But now I'm here

Stripped away from all things false and untrue

Leaving me alone

Here, drowning in these black sun rays.

Wow!!! Fifteen! You remind me so much of myself when I was your age. Even your writing takes me back. I too loved to sing, but had writing on the side, because it's got to go somewhere when inspiration hits. Your writing screams early talent. Keep it up!!! Looking forward to reading more.
