Predators

Predators

A Poem by Ivey

Shadows lurking,

Creatures skittering,

Water leaking,

Paint pealing,

What is in here?

What purpose does it serve?

How did I get here?

Why am I here?

What is that I see?

Moving in the corner,

right outside of my line of vision

I turn to look, but nothing is there,

Only the shadows I see in my periferal.

Silently watching me,

Stalking my ever move,

Like a predator watching prey.

Will it attack?

Disembowel me until there is nothing left,

Strip me of everything I once knew,

Or will it just watch,

and wait,

Until I let my guard down,

Until I'm not longer aware of it.

I will always have my guard up though.

Waiting and watching,

As you watch me.
