Perpetually Sinking

Perpetually Sinking

A Poem by Ivey Winters

I've long since forgotten the ignited complexion of the blazing sun,
for my chin only knows to hang sulkily down.
You've iridescently stained my sorrowful eyes with the touch of your loving thumb,
pulling my lifeless face towards the clouds.

Don't shed a tear when it falls back to place,
as if it's beauty didn't convince,
because no matter how far it rises,
the sun, too, perpetually sinks.

This is absolutely beautiful honestly. Im quite picky with poetry as well haha.

"I've long since forgotten the ignited complexion of the blazing sun,"
I adore that line. I really like the image you portrayed, you do well in constructing metaphors with originality, something I don't see often enough Im afraid.
