![]() The Hungry Mouths.A Poem by Maximus![]() With Empty Stomachs.![]()
In shadows cast upon the streets they dwell,
A plight that graces every winding road, Their hearts and hands burdened by sorrow's well, In poverty's embrace they find abode. No golden thread adorns their threadbare sleeves, Their hopes and dreams obscured by endless night, Yet toil and sweat plant seeds of strength and sheaves, Resilience in their souls, a steadfast light. The hungry mouths, bemoan the daily grind, In search of crumbs, their hunger never ends, For life's sweet banquet they are left behind, Denied the taste of joy, their hearts unbends. But let us not ignore their silent cries, Within their plight, the truth of life does lie. Forever locked in cycles of despair, Where privilege and wealth become their chains, Inequality seen everywhere, Poverty's clutches, it constantly feigns. But in their faces, stories we can trace, A fight for dignity, against all odds, In every tear, a longing to embrace, A life that's free from hunger's cruel façade. No fault to cast upon their stooped backs, For circumstance, the master of their fate, Yet still they yearn to rise above the cracks, To break the chains that poverty creates. So let us not dismiss their daily plight, In their true meaning, poverty takes flight. Written By, Ivan Edwin Pen Name--Maximus. © 2024 MaximusAuthor's Note
