The Shadow Chaser.

The Shadow Chaser.

A Poem by Maximus
"

This poetry describes the sadness and action of mentally ill peoples.

"
In the realm where thoughts and shadows blend,
A silent plea for pain to end.
Their minds, a maze, no clear way out,
Their voices whisper, then they shout.

Invisible chains, their hearts confined,
A labyrinth of the troubled mind.
Their smiles painted, laughter feigned,
In their eyes, the sadness remained.

They dance with demons in the night,
In the day, they seek the light.
Their actions, cryptic, hard to read,
Their souls, in silence, softly bleed.

Yet within their hearts, dreams take flight,
In the darkness, they seek the light.
Through the pain, the fear, the strife, 🥺
They yearn for the simple joys of life.

So let’s not judge, but understand,
And offer them a helping hand.
For in their hearts, where shadows roam,
They too, are seeking a way home.

Having experienced mental illness from both sides I relate to this piece. I was once married to a woman who lived with Schzophrenia and I worked most of my career in the field of mental health. My novel (on the site) is all about mental illness. you capture the esence of the many faces these disorders can take in a flowing well written piece.

Excellent poem with accurate points on this mental illness or disease if it is appropriate; millions of people have it, suffer from it, seek cure for it. It is a jarring experience indeed; a tough one. Can cause many things even suicidal thoughts.

A nice plea for understanding for the mentally ill here. I worked for 26 years in the mental health field and can attest to the accuracy of many of the lines in this work. Many fear the mentally ill because of misinformation and old wives tales. The vast majority of them are not violent. They are just trying, day by day, to make their way through an as yet incurable illness.
