Part I: PovertyA Chapter by KristiMae01
Lito, who had come from Barok to settle in Barok, was writing a letter to, of all people, Ka Inse, his landlord, one warm June night. It was about his son Francisco, who wanted to go to school in Malansay that year. Francisco was in Fifth Grade when Lito and his family left Barok the year before and migrated to Palawan; because the father had some difficulty in getting some land of his own to farm, the boy had to stop schooling for a year. As it was, Litothought himself lucky enough to have Ka Inse take him in as a tenant. Later, when Lito's wife, Fidela gave birth to a baby, Ka Inse, who happened to be visiting his property then, offered to become its godfather. After that, they began to call each other compadre.
