Beginning of the BeginningA Chapter by Cate1st Chapter, Casey, a preppy cheerleader, meets Meredith, a new hipster girl that's a new student at Franklin High, & they quickly become friends.
Every morning, as soon as I wake up, I determine what kind of day it's going to be. For expample, if I wake up late, it's raining outside, AND I'm having a bad hair day, then it's going to be a s****y day. If I wake up on time, it's sunny outside, and I'm having a good hair day, it's going to be an awesome day! If it's mixed, then it's going to be a normal day. When I wake up this moring, on time at 6:30 a.m., and I see it's sunny outside, I go to the mirror to take a look at my hair. And... It's going to be an awesome day. And I'm glad, because, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday were all normal days.
I grab my brush and rake it through my hair, then I quickly used my curling iron to style my medium blonde hair into soft waves. My jewelry box is already open, so I slip on a few, dark brown, braided braclets, and an anklet which has an infinte sign on the chain. 6:45. After I'm finished with that, I walk over from my vanity to my walk-in closet. I open the door and flip the light switch on. My closet mainly consists of very expensive clothing, dur to the fact that I have a rich dad (Which is a story for another time). I slip on a strapless, navy, Hollister top, A pair of dark-wash, skinny, Abercrombie jeans, and navy flip-flops. It's 6:52, which means I have exactly....38 minuites until Lilly arives to pick me up for school. I've known Lilly Caverly since I was 6, and I'm 17 now so that means I've known her for.....11 years. Me and Lilly, are both categorized in the "Prep" group at Fraknlin High School, or FHS, or Franklin High. All work. I walk back over to my vanity, because I forgot to put my "makeup" on. I don't think I use enough of it to actually be called makeup. I put some light pink lip gloss on, and a tad but of mascara & concealer. 6:55. My iPhone makes a swoosh sound from my nightstand, which means I've gotten a text. It's my boyfriend, Matt Overton, the text reads, "hey, case....need a r'ide to s chool?" Ugghhhh. For some reason, I hate it when Matt calls me Case. My real name is Casey, and although most of my friends call me Case occasionally, he does it ALL the time. "So'rry :( ive already got a 'ride with lilly." Is my response. If I had wanted to, I could've totally texted Lilly and told her I was riding with Matt. She would've been cool with it. I mean she wouldn't have to waste gas by coming all the way to my house. But the thing is, I'd much rather ride with Lilly than with Matt. I mean, it's not that I don't like him. It's just that, I don't really wanna date him anymore. It's not passionate, exciting, adventurous, or anything like that. And I totally think that's what relationships should be like. Matt and I's relationship is good for now though, I think. It's safe, and we trust eachother It's also the perfect, typical, high school romance because I'm a cheerleader, a football player. So I don't think I'll break up with him anytime soon. I'm snapped out of my thoughts when I hear 3OH!3's "Don't Trust Me" playing from outside my second story window. Which signals that Lilly is here. Early. It's only 7:00. Which is weird, because she is NEVER early. Especially 30 minuites early. I grab my Abercrombie & Fitch bag with the mooses on it and run down the spiraling staircase. "Sweetie! Come and eat some breakfast!!!" My mom yells from the kitchen. "I'll just grab something on the way!" Is my response before I exit the huge double doors. I spot Lilly's black, 2 door, Mercedes-Benz sitting in my circular driveway and hop in the passenger seat. "Hey!" I say to Lilly before I hug her. "Hey pretty girl!" She says back while pulling way & turning her music down. "You excited about the bonfire tonight?" "Hell yes. I haven't been to a decent party in at least a month." I reply. "I know, So how bout a sleepover after the bonfire?" She asks as she pulls out of my driveway. "Sounds awesome. I don't wanna have to have sex with Matt, so, this is good." I sigh. "Awwww. Trouble in paradise?" She asks teasingly. "No, it's just that sex with him is never all that great," I reply, "and I really hate having to fake orgasms." "Ohhhh. Sucks for you." I nod my head in agreement. "Why did you pick me up so early?" I ask after a couple minutes of silence. "Apparently, there's gonna be a new girl starting today," she answers, "so, I wanted to check her records and everything. You know, just see if she's a threat." She says with mischief in her chocolatey brown eyes. I laugh as she turns the music back up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ We pull up to school and find a parking spot, right next to the entrance, since we're here at 7:10. The only other people here are the people are in clubs, so the school is mostly empty. "Let's go find her file." Lilly says as we walk into to Franklin High. "What's this girls name anyways?" I ask as we walk thru the hall towards the principals office. " Meredith Petty." She replies with a hushed tone, because we are now standing outside of the office. We hear voices talking, one, I recognize to be Principal Sharpe's. The other, I assume belongs to the new girl. "S**t!" Lilly yell-whispers, " We're too late!" I shush her and put my head up to the wooden door. I hear Sharpe say, "So here's your schedule, and I can show you where each of the classes are." Lilly and I both jump away from the door just in time. "Act casual." I state just before the door opens. I pretend to text on my phone, while Lilly twirls pieces of her dark brown hair around her finger. "Hello, girls. What are you two doing here so early?" Principal Sharpe says. "Well. Uh. We. Uh. Heard that....that there would a new student here today. And. Um. We thought we could show her around? Maybe?" Lilly finally manages to get out, although, it sounds more like a question than an actual statement. I mentally facepalm. "How nice of you girls! How does that sound, Meredith?" I look over at Meredith. Woah is me. If you go in the dictionary, and look up hipster, there's a picture of Meredith Petty. She's wearing a red, velvet tank top with light-wash skinny jeans. She's also wearing about 10 assorted coloured bracelets, sandals with aqua, maroon, and silver stones, and dream catcher earrings. Her auburn hair (which has a few bright red streaks) makes her bright blue eyes stand out in a beautiful way. Okay, so before I continue telling this story, let me be clear about one thing. I want to be a writer when I get out of college. Therefore I have taken many writing classes. And by taking these classes, I sort of developed this habit, where I over-describe objects, and people. "Sounds good to me." She says with a friendly smile that shows her perfect white teeth. "Great!" Principal Sharpe says in a slightly high pitched voice. He hands me a copy of Meredith's schedule. "You have around 30 minutes to show her the classes, if you get finished before then, show her the bathrooms, the cafeteria, and all that good stuff!" He finishes, his bald head shining under the lights in the hallway. He walks back into his office, with a skip in his step. How is he always in a good mood? "Okay then, Let's go!" Lilly says in a cheery tone, and starts walking. Lilly is wearing an extremely skimpy, navy tank top with a short skirt. She is also wearing heels that look to be about 4 inches tall. You're probably wondering why everyone in this story is wearing tank-tops, short skirts, & high heels. Well, the school board had a meeting 2 years ago, and they all decided that we could wear whatever we want, besides bikinis, or anything shows your a*s or n*****s. The principal and the counselors all think that we should "express" ourselves. Because, if we never express ourselves, then we will never know who we truly are. Or at least that's what Principal Sharpe said. As we walk down the halls, towards Meredith's 1st period class, I try to make conversation. "So Meredith, why did you move to Bennetville?" I ask in a friendly tone. "My dad is a major loser, so I decided I wanted to move to my mom's." Woah. I was NOT expecting that. I decided to change the subject. "Oh, well, are you going to the bonfire tonight?" "I didn't know there was one." This gets Lilly's attention. "Every year, we have a bonfire the weekend before the football season starts. You have to go!" Lilly all but screams. Meredith thinks about it for a second. "Will there be alcohol?" She asks with a small smirk. Lilly and I both laugh. "Duhhhh." Lilly and I say at the same time. "Then count me in." "Awesome! I'll text you all the details." I say. "What's your number?" I think me and Meredtih Petty could have friend potential. © 2013 Cate
