Scared, Yet So ExcitedA Poem by Neisha AnnHe was scared, yet so excited. Never thought he'd be invited. Never thought that she'd take his hand. Never thought that night he'd become a man. He never thought she'd end up pregnant. He never thought she wouldn't want to keep it. His mind races, he makes promises. She doesn't buy it and visits different clinics. He begs and pleads for her to change her mind. He tries to convince her their family will be fine. She sits, she waits, and she starts to ponder. He tries to show her how he'd be a good father.
She was scared, yet so excited. Never thought she'd end up delighted. She never thought he'd take over her heart. She thought things were meant to fall apart. He makes her laugh, she makes him smile. Things were so perfect, but just for a while. Baby came, and then things changed. Their so-called love just wasn't the same. Arguments can lead to permanent pain. When she stormed out, he stayed. When she didn't return, he prayed.
She got into an accident, highly severe. He came running to the hospital in tears. He sat by her, praying, and feeling fear. He kissed her and he whispered, "I'm here". Seconds passed, and she squeezes his hand. She says, “Baby, I'm sorry, let's try again.” He smiled and said it sounds like a plan. A week later, they leave, hand in hand.
