Social Media: A Sonnet

Social Media: A Sonnet

A Poem by It's Gross
"

Are social media really social?

"
Social Media: A Sonnet

As a professor once did impart,
Those who shun social media's art,
Risk social isolation's sting.
A strange conundrum, this I bring.

While crowds around me, heads hung low,
Their fingers tapping, faces aglow,
I watch the hawks, the larks I hear,
I feel sunshine's embrace, I taste a tear.

I stand here, flesh and blood, alive,
My gaze you freely may contrive.
Or do you fail to see me stand,
Lost in your screen, a distant strand?

The tool becomes the tyrant's guise,
The question lingers in our eyes:
Who, in this realm, is truly near,
Whose heart and soul are truly here?
