The FounderA Poem by Ita Bobo DAfrican PoetThe truth about the founder of Ghana
In the heart of Africa, where the sun shines bright
Lies a land of freedom, a beacon of light Ghana, oh Ghana, your spirit soars high A tale of resilience under the vast sky From the Gold Coast days to independence gained Through struggle and strife, your strength never waned March 6, 1957, the dawn of a new day He led, showing the way Kwame, with vision grand Guided Ghana to its promised land A question lingers, clear and grand Why other names don’t quite withstand The Big Six, with varied aims Each held roles in freedom’s games Yet their paths diverged in the fray From the unity that led the way Danquah, with wisdom’s thoughtful grace And Akufo-Addo, in legal space Their efforts, though noble, did not fully steer The course to freedom, so clear and near Mma no nye mo ya For in the dance of freedom’s fight Not all roles will shine as bright And Ghana’s founder stands alone In his name, the seeds were sown Kwame Nkrumah, the nation’s call Whose vision soared and led them all. So history writes with careful hand And Nkrumah’s mark will ever stand As the founder who, through struggle and strife Carved Ghana’s course, and gave it life No force can erase his name’s ties Nkrumah truly never dies Shifting to August four will not sway Ghana will celebrate the 21st September as Founder's Day Ita Bobo DAfrican Poet © 2024 Ita Bobo DAfrican PoetFeatured Review
