travelling with God

travelling with God

A Poem by Issachar U. Bacang
"

prayer for those on the move, either to see the world, escape their own or to find peace

"
Dear Lord,

[Introductory recitation]
either by the wheel, the saltwater hull or the steel wings that glide above
be that on every traveler's weary head may rest, the glowing white dove

[stanza one]
may Your eyes watch over them,
and may Your hands hold and guide theirs
may You join all my brethren
and be with them, from here to anywhere

[chorus]
may You never leave their side
in the silence of coldest nights

may Your grace be ever, as they walk their way
Guide them and lead them, Oh Lord,
ne'er lead them astray

[bridge]
my only request, the only thing I ask of you:

[stanza two]
to lead my loved ones,
and anyone at that,
to the world of places
and home again, back

[stanza three]
may Your hands guide their hands
as You've guided mine
may Your mercy, Your love, Your forgiveness
keep them on track.

Amen
