Dear You

Dear You

A Poem by Isolophobe
"

Poem inspired by Sole's "I Hope you Like my Stupid Painting" Also source of first line.

"

I hope you like my stupid f*****g painting.

Its a self-portrait with you leaking through

From underneath my skin

I forgot how to draw suffocation

So I sketched a tiny dot engulfed in

Blank space. Somehow it ended up hanging

To the left in the lower half of the canvas

Like a decrepit photograph

Of some pitiful criminal being punished for

All his sins.

That speck is the lurid simplification of

My self-image.

Infantile and alone.

Wrapped in a light distortion of

Company that always appears too distant.

Its one canvas full of YOU away

From being picture perfect.

I know it appears that my work ethic is lacking,

But killing myself for your approval never

Made me feel alive.

And if ever could, I probably

Won't find out.
