Acumen

Acumen

A Poem by Isola

Upon a time I courted reason
but its season fell awry
debate and conversation
crumbled words upon my tongue
and logic’s eloquence ran dry

Then a distant voice was singing
setting fire to my blood
in my meditative stillness
fell away the shriveled husk
every outer pretense died
extinguishing my earthen hut

The song repeated in my mind
no mortal ears could feign to hear
an inner dance my soul inclined
besotted in the womb of love

frenzied
I became the Word
